Privacy Policy

HOHdle is a fan-made trivia game. We collect only what we need to run the game, understand how it is being played, and save your progress. We do not sell your data, and we never share it with advertisers.

If you play without an account: nothing that identifies you by name or email. Your game state is stored locally in your browser. Our analytics provider still records anonymous usage — see “Analytics” below.

If you create an account: your email address, the date you signed up, and your game history (streak, puzzle results). Supabase stores a hashed version of your password — we never see or store the password itself.

Automatically, either way: standard technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages and buttons you interact with. This is collected by our analytics and hosting providers, described below.

We use a small number of third-party services (“data processors”) to run HOHdle. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job:

• Supabase — authentication and database storage (United States). Privacy policy
• PostHog — product analytics and error reporting (United States). Privacy policy
• Vercel — website hosting and delivery. Vercel processes server request logs, which include IP addresses. Privacy policy

We do not share your data with anyone else, and we do not sell it.

We use Supabase for authentication and database storage. When you sign in, your email and password are processed by Supabase to verify your identity and create a secure session. Your game data (streak, results) is stored in a Supabase database hosted in the United States.

We use PostHog to understand how people play HOHdle — which challenges are hardest, where players get stuck, and which features get used. PostHog also receives error reports when something breaks.

What PostHog receives: page views, in-game events (guesses submitted, challenges won or lost, clues revealed, shares, sign-in attempts), and technical data including IP address, browser, device type, and referring page.

If you are signed in: we also send your account ID and email address to PostHog so your gameplay can be linked across devices. If you are not signed in, no identifying profile is created.

Analytics requests are routed through hohdle.com/ingest rather than directly to PostHog’s servers, so PostHog’s cookies are set as first-party cookies on our domain. Data is stored on PostHog’s United States infrastructure.

If you would rather not be included in analytics, you have options: we honour your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting and will not collect analytics at all when it is switched on. You can also block analytics requests with a browser content blocker, or email us and we will delete your analytics profile.

HOHdle uses browser local storage to save your daily game state between visits. We do not use third-party advertising cookies and we do not run ad or marketing trackers. The cookies and storage we do set are:

• Supabase session cookie — keeps you signed in.
• PostHog analytics cookies — an anonymous visitor ID and session ID, set as first-party cookies on hohdle.com.
• Local storage — your current puzzle progress and settings.

Whatever country you are in, you can ask us to:

• Tell you what data we hold about you
• Correct anything inaccurate
• Send you a copy of your account data
• Delete your account and everything associated with it

Email playhohdle@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will never charge you or penalise your account for making a request.

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing playhohdle@gmail.com. We will process requests within 30 days. Analytics data is retained by PostHog under its standard retention policy.

HOHdle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their email, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We will post any changes to this policy on this page with an updated effective date. For significant changes we will send a notice to your account email.
